When It Rained, It Poured.

In general, the weather was great but like on all tropical islands...when it rains, it pours.

In to town we go...

Since it was our first visit to Koh Samui, we figured we should take a look around. We visited both Chaweng - the traditional Thai touristy town and Bophut - a quaint seaside village. It was great to tour the island, as it made us appreciate our own little oasis at Melati even more.

Sunset drinks at a little seaside bar in Bophut.

Bophut beach.

What should I order?

The Boathouse restaurant, just outside Chaweng.

Yum - Thai food.

Always happy at dinner time.

Thought we would save a visit to this bar for when Auntie Lisa & Uncle Rob join us. ;)

Melati Beach Resort & Spa

After being disappointed by our confirmed hotel, we got back in the cab and headed to the Melati Beach Resort & Spa. We were very happy with what we saw, so decided to check-in and enjoy the next 7 days...and that is exactly what we did.

Dinner at Salathip

Noah and I enjoyed a traditional Thai dinner at the Shangri-La's restaurant on the river - Salathip. I had a very good, yellow curry with snow fish and Noah devoured his chicken satay and toast.

The highlight of Noah's night was the Thai dancers.

Just the 2 of us.

Fancy restaurant.

Yum - toast.

Wasn't me.

Ooo-la-la.

Another drink - please.
Sorry very difficult to see - low light.
Meeting the dancers.

Short Stop in Bangkok

We are staying at the Shangri-La Bangkok for the first time...very impressed. We have a great view of the bustling river and they have treated Noah like a king.

Noah loves the view.

Lots of activity on the River of Kings.

Settling in.

Another reason, I love the Shangri-la...best amenities.

Ok...I will take this bed.

Noah's welcome gift.

Back at his perch.

Hotel pool.

Across the river from the Pennisula - where we have stayed before.

Mom made me swim during a thunderstorm.

Noah loved crawling under the crib...into his cage.

We are going on a family holiday...

Finally, we are going on a family holiday! Jeff has business in Bangkok for a few days, then we are headed to Koh Samui for a week.

We arranged our travel so we could check out the Emirates A380.

About to board.

There it is - Emirates A380 - pretty big.

Noah approved.
